Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information maggieellery.com ("the site", "I", "me") collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: I collect only what I need to send you the emails you asked for, I don't sell or share it, and you can leave at any time.

What I collect

When you sign up for printables or the pantry letter

• Your email address and, if you give it, your first name.
• Which free download you asked for, the date and time, and the consent wording shown next to the form.
• A one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address and your country, used only to stop automated spam sign-ups. I never store your raw IP address.
• Whether you opened your download link and how many files you downloaded, so I can tell whether the delivery email works.

When you just browse

The site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If analytics are switched on, they use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. Like every website host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.

Sign-up forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is submitting the form. It does not use advertising cookies and is not used to track you across websites.

When you email me

I keep your message and address so I can reply, and delete the conversation when it's no longer needed.

How I use it

• To email you the free download you requested.
• To send occasional letters: news about my books (new releases and occasional deals), recipes and kitchen tips.
• To keep the sign-up form free of spam and abuse.

The legal basis is your consent, which you give when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.

Who processes it

I don't sell, rent or trade your information. Two service providers handle it on my behalf:

• Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site and the subscriber database.
• Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) delivers the emails.

Both are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. They process it under their own security and data protection terms, including standard contractual clauses where required.

How long I keep it

As long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, I keep only your email address and the unsubscribe date on a suppression list, so you're never emailed again by mistake. Ask me to delete it completely and I will. Unconfirmed sign-ups (the download link was never opened) are deleted after 90 days.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email.
• See, correct or delete what I hold about you: write to hello@maggieellery.com from the address in question.
• Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights such as data portability or objecting to processing, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. I will honor these requests whether or not the law strictly requires it.

Children

The site is meant for adults. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Links to other sites

Links to Amazon, Pinterest and other sites are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, I'll update the date above and mention it in the next pantry letter.
